i work for a thrift store, of wonder hostess, and the bakery of wonder bread, who also make all the other breads in the south, always save, best choice, kroger, walmart, all of them are made at the same bakery,just different wrappers, and such a difference in price. but about the cakes and chocidiles, if you were able to see how the are made, and the creatures they pull out of the stuff, {SOMETIMES IT SLIPS BY}and makes it to the shelfes, u would not want to touch one of the cakes, unless u had gloves on. YYYYUUUUKKKKKKKK and surely would not want to eat them. Plus all the sex acts happening around the food. THINK ABOUT IT..

I am New Yorker who is in desperate search of chocodiles. I havent had a chocodile in about 5 year's, But after a dream in which i was savoring every bite of a chocodile i suddenly am now finding myself longing and craving for that light creamy filling and the flaky but oh so sweet chocolate covering, not to mention the delicious sponge cake part, PLEASE email me if anyone knows how or where i can buy chocodiles in NEW YORK or NEW JERSEY ......Thank's

So here I am talking about donuts to my girlfriend when my memory races back to the Choco-Diles packed in my Incredible Hulk lunch box. I ask her if she remembers them, but, she's from New York with a family of health nuts so she had no idea. But upon description, she obviously craved the chocolate dipped cream filled ectasy. So I looked here on the net to find out that now by some freek occurance that they are an endanged species??!! Of course this only makes me crave one even more!! I must have a tie to my childhood, I must have a Choco-Dile!! So, ten minutes ago (12:15 am PST) I got into my car and went to where I thought they could be. And low and behold. . .there they were. At the corner 7-11 for $0.49 a piece. Well, $1.47 later I'm a happy man and here to tell you that in Los Angeles, CA. . . choclate dreams can come true.

I have been looking for chocodiles for a long time now. Im from springfield mass and no one knows what im talking about when i say anything about them. Im 28 now and the last time i had one was about 13 years ago. If you see them in this area or how i can get them drop me a line thanks

OK, so im at work, and my boss runs into the back to buy a snack. He emerges holding a pack of twinkies. Takes one bite. "Have you ever had a chocodile?" Im like, "Whats a chocodile?" Me being 19 and all, evidently missing the phenomenon that is chocodile. He looks at me blankly and proceeds to search the world wide web for a thorough answer to my question. You see, for him, telling me that a chocodile is a twinkie like snack covered in chocolate was not enough. He wanted me to understand, to read about, and in a sense get a picture, a mental taste of what a chocodile is. He says: "You know, sometimes if youre in Iowa, (like I go to Iowa on a regular basis) you can find a chocodile... but then you have to wonder if its been there since 1976..." Anyway, the point is, ive never had one, but i still find it a shame that they can not even be found in New York City!!! For my sake, and my bosses (Rob- the comment before this... crazy boy) bring them back!

Finally i got my box of chocs,coming back to me like an old girlfriend.I still miss the brown wrapper they use to come in,but i guess i can't complain.When i took my first bite of one in about 15 years,it was like biting into fluffy,creamy extacy........oh did i mention creamy.I think i'm gonna pack a bowl now of cali's finest, grab a big milk,and slam about 5 of these little brown bundles of joy.So to all you peaple that think they will never come back yo your town,just believe,and pray,because miracles do come true...............god i love chocodiles.

I just bought two boxes of chocs at the hostess discount store. I think they just started to come back around here in the san francisco bay area...ohhhyaaaa reunited and it feels so good. The lady at the hostess store said they have been discontinued for 8 years.

Years ago I was always spotted with my hands and face covered in chocolate and cream from my daily trips into the corner store for chocodiles. (Did I mention that I was in my 40s and had 4 kids?!) They are the greatest treat on earth and I miss them terribly! Chocodile ... COME BACK TO ME!!!!

I remember walking down the aisles of our old Grand Union in New Jersey yelling to my friend Jon, "Why don't they sell Chocodiles anymore?" and him yelling back, "What the hell is a Chocodile?" To which a uniformed cop who was walking by replied, "Chocolate covered twinkie." Totally deadpan. They're the stuff that legends are made of.
I saw them again in Alburquerque, NM last June and once in a Publix in Atlanta in '99--just once! Yes, they could ocassionally be dry, but I miss them so.

They have them in Bakersfield, CA, but not in Northern CA, although they did sell Chocodiles in the Bay Area when I was a kid. Anyway, they are 39 cents here (they were 3 for a dollar last year). they are THE BEST. It's really not a twinkie. I HATE twinkies as they are much much too sweet. The Chocodile is a rather dry sponge cake filled with whipped cream and enrobed in a thick yummy chocolate (the hostess chocolate donut chocolate). They are fantastic. I'm movng soon, and I hope they sell them in Oklahoma. If they don't, I'm buying a case before I leave.

Somewhere on this web page is a phone number to special order Chocodiles. (909) 591-0451. This turned out to be the Wonder Bread bakery not Hostess. However the nice sales lady who answererd the phone gave me the number to Hostess California.

They cost $0.25 and come in boxes of 10. However they only ship overnight. It ended up that shipping will be approx $40 for $10 worth of Chocodiles.

I live in Ct. formerly N.Y. I grew up loving chocodiles..kids nowadays have no clue what I'm talking about, and I'm not that old!! My b/f also loved them as a kid...but now we can't find them anywhere for years. What happened??? Can anyone tell us where to find them? Please let me know!! Even a website to order them shipped in. It's been a while...since I had a chocodile. HELP!!!

Blasphemy!
Chocodiles are NOT chocolate-covered twinkies! The cake is white, not yellow, and has none of the overly-sweet taste. And they are wonderful, as long as they don't sit on the shelf too long--they get dry easily (make sure to freeze them).

ahhh...i remember clearly how i would freeze my chocodile that i'd ride my bike to the local mom n pop store everyday to get. I always got 2, one for right when I got home, and the other for later that night. I would wait until everyone was fast asleep and then I'd tiptoe to the refrigerator and reach for that chocodile that I had hidden behind whatever meat was in the freezer part. I never did wake my mom up, but boy, I sure was scared she'd hear me and find out about my shameful pleasure. I'd tiptoe back to my room and under my safe covers, with my little radio playing softly, with the door closed securely, I would slowly unwrap the chocodile and slowly, very slowly, eat every inch of the dang thing until it was all gone. oh, the memory of such nights! NOW YOU BRING THOSE CHOCODILES BACK, HOSTESS! TO CALIFORNIA! TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA!
haha. I'm not as psycho as I sound. Guess some of the comments I was reading rubbed off on me. I, too, am in desperate search for these wonderful, delicious, awesome tasting chocodiles. AND DON'T ANYBODY COMPARE THEM TO THE TWINKIE!!! THERE IS NO COMPARISON! Hostess, PULEAZE bring them back! or tell me where I can go buy some, say, in the bulk, about around 20 of them. For now. I used to LOVE chocodiles when I was a kid growing up on Long Island. I thought they were completely out of existence...until I came to this site. I live in Chicago now however I have yet to see a chocodile but everyone here is saying they're all over Illinois. Where??? I'd love to order some from anyone willing to send them to me!

My husband and I recently went to Illinois where I grew up and you can still find them all over the place there. Living in TN for the past few years, I have really missed my Chocodiles!! I really wish they would start selling them here.

Hostess gives the reason for a short self life for not selling those wonderful choco-diles in southern states. Others have said that it is due to the humidity. The summers in IL, MO, and KY are very humid -- lived in IL for 30 years and now in AR. If the humidity is the problem then why can we get Ding Dongs and other chocolate products. Come now. We have air conditioners -- southern states are not in the dark ages. Give us our choco-diles.
